उत्तराखंड में मानव वन्यजीव संघर्ष की घटनाएं लगातार बढ़ रही है ताजा मामला सोमवार की सुबह सुबह का है जब मॉर्निंग वॉक करने गए एक पुलिसकर्मी पर हाथी ने हमला बोल दिया और इस घटना में सिपाही की दर्दनाक मौत हो गई, घटना के बाद से परिजनों में कोहराम मचा हुआ है । बताया जा रहा है कि पुलिसकर्मी कोटद्वार पुलिंडा मोटर मार्ग पर मॉर्निंग वॉक करने के लिए गया था।
सुबह करीब 6:00 बजे जब वह लौट रहे थे, तभी रास्ते में अचानक एक हाथी ने उन पर हमला कर दिया। हाथी से बचने के प्रयास में दौड़ते हुए मनजीत सड़क पर गिर पड़े। इसी बीच वहां पहुंचे हाथी ने मनजीत पर हमला कर दिया।
हाथी के हमले में गंभीर रूप से घायल मनजीत को बेस चिकित्सालय में लाया गया, जहां चिकित्सकों ने उन्हें मृत घोषित कर दिया। सूचना मिलते ही कोतवाली में तैनात तमाम पुलिसकर्मी बेस चिकित्सालय में पहुंचे।
