जोशीमठ से दूर हेलंग मारवाड़ी बाईपास को लेकर शंकराचार्य वासुदेवानंद महाराज ने चिंता जताते हुए कहा है कि शंकराचार्य जी की पावन भूमि को बाईपास से दूर करना दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण होगा उन्होंने कहा कि आदि गुरु शंकराचार्य जी की तपोभूमि से जुड़कर ही बाईपास का निर्माण किया जाना चाहिए ताकि बद्रीनाथ की यात्रा पर आने वाले तीर्थ यात्रियों को इस आध्यात्मिक और धार्मिक नगरी के बारे में जानकारी प्राप्त हो सके उन्होंने कहा कि मैंने स्वयं फोन पर सड़क परिवहन मंत्री नितिन गडकरी से इस पूरे मामले में पूर्व में भी बात की है और वर्तमान में भी पूर्ण रूप से प्रयास करूंगा कि केंद्र सरकार के सभी मंत्रियों से वार्ता करके जोशीमठ के अस्तित्व पर चिंतन करें ताकि जोशीमठ शहर को आर्थिक तौर और धार्मिक तौर पर हो रहे नुकसान से बचाया जा सके शंकराचार्य वासुदेवानंद जी ने जोशीमठ नगर वासियों को विश्वास दिलाया है कि वह अपने स्तर पर केंद्रीय मंत्रियों से वार्ता करके जोशीमठ से ही बाईपास बनाने की बात कहेंगे
