सुंदर आंखें इंसान की सुंदरता में चार चांद लगाती हैं क्योंकि इन्हीं अनमोल आंखों से वह कुदरत के खूबसूरत नजारों को देख पाता है। इसीलिए जरूरी है आंखों को बीमारियों से बचाना। यदि समय-समय पर आंखों की भी देखभाल की जाए तो काफी हद तक इसमें पैदा होने वाली समस्याओं पर रोक लगाई जा सकती है। साथ ही आंखों को बीमारियों से बचाने के लिए आंखों की सफाई और आंखों का व्यायाम करना जरूरी है। आंखों की देखभाल के लिए विटामिन-ए युक्त भोजन भी करना चाहिए जो आंखों की रोशनी तेज 
करता है और आंखों की समस्याओं से व्यक्ति को बचाता है। आइए जानें आंखों की सेहत के नुस्खों के बारे में।
-आंखों के प्रति लापरवाही बरतने से आंखों से पानी आना, जलन, खुजली, आंखों का लाल होना, पीलापन आना, सूजना, धुंधला दिखने जैसी समस्याएं हो सकती हैं। इन समस्याओं से आंखों को बचाने के लिए नियमित रूप से आंखों की सफाई करनी चाहिए। इसके लिए आप आंखों को दिन में 3-4 बार ठंडे पानी से अच्छीं तरह से धोएं।
-आंखों को बीमारी से बचाने के लिए विटामिन-ए और विटामिन के से भरपूर भोजन लेना चाहिए। दूध, मक्खन, गाजर, टमाटर, पपीता, अंडे, शुद्ध घी और हरी साग-सब्जियों इत्यादि का सेवन करना चाहिए। इसके सुबह उठकर पानी पीना, पूरे दिन में 8-9 गिलास पानी पीना आंखों के लिए हितकर होता है जो शरीर में बढ़ते हुए विषैले पदार्थों को नष्ट करता है।
-आंखों को आराम देने के लिए पर्याप्त आठ घंटे की नींद लेनी चाहिए। और साथ ही आंखों के आसपास की त्वचा को पुष्ट करने के लिए बादाम के तेल से आंखों के नीचे हल्के हाथ से मालिश करनी चाहिए। इससे आंखों के नीचे काले घेरे भी दूर होते हैं। इसके अलावा आंखों के नीचे एंटी रिंकल क्रीम लगानी चाहिए। एंटी रिंकल क्रीम में मौजूद तत्व होते है विटामिन सी और ग्रीन टी, जो आंखों के काले घेरे बनने से रोकने में लाभकारी है!
-आंखों की सेहत के लिए जरूरी है कि उचित प्रकाश में ही बैठकर काम किया जाएं, फिर चाहे आप कंप्यूटर पर काम कर रहे हो या फिर पढ़ाई। बहुत नजदीक से निरंतर किसी चीज को देखने या ज्यादा देर तक कम्यूटर के सामने बैठने के कारण आंखों में दर्द की शिकायत हो सकती है। इसलिए निरंतर आंखों पर जोर न डालें। बीच-बीच में अवकाश लेते रहें।
-आंखों में कोई समस्या, हो या न हो लेकिन समय-समय पर आंखों का चेकअप कराना चाहिए। खासकर डायबिटीज के रोगियों को समय-समय पर आंखों का चेकअप जरूर करवाना चाहिए क्योंकि डायबिटीज से आंखों पर नकारात्मक असर पड़ता है और लंबे समय तक डायबिटीज रहने पर अंधापन भी हो सकता है।
– आंखों को धूल-मिट्टी और धूप से बचाने के लिए बाहर निकलते समय आंखों पर शेड्स या चश्में का इस्तेमाल करना चाहिए। साथ ही आंखों के मेकअप के लिए अच्छी क्वालिटी के उत्पादों का ही इस्तेमाल करें। आंखों पर जरूरत के हिसाब से मेकअप करना चाहिए, यानी काजल, सुरमा जैसी चीजें लगाने से बचना चाहिए।
अन्य उपाय
आंखों में थकान होने पर गुलाब जल में रूई भिगोकर आंखों पर रखने से आंखों को राहत मिलती है।
आंखों में दर्द होने पर दोनों हथेलियों को रगड़कर कुछ देर आंखों पर मलना अच्छा रहता है।
कंप्यूटर पर काम करते समय अपनी कुर्सी को कंप्यूटर की ऊंचाई के हिसाब से रखें। जिससे आंखों पर बहुत अधिक जोर न पड़े और टीवी कभी अंधेरे में न देखें, इससे आंखों पर बहुत जोर पड़ता है रात को सोने से पहले आंखों का मेकअप ध्यानपूर्वक हटाएं।
